“All men are created equal.” You must be quite familiar with this famous quotation. It is one of the most inspiring sentences in the great document Declaration of Independence approved in July 4, 1776, declaring the independence of America from the United Kingdom. The Declaration of Independence explains the crimes that British colonists committed in the Americas and also reflects the spirits that all men are created equal and have the right to pursue happiness and freedom.

On this important day, there are a lot of patriotic displays. Churches in the whole America ring the bells together to memorize the independence of America. Celebrations on Independence Day usually take place outdoors. We can see floats and parades in the streets, and American flags are everywhere. Independence Day is all about parades, cookouts, fireworks and family reunions.

Families often go out to host or attend a picnic or barbecue on this day. Officials and politicians usually deliver an address to praise American traditions and values. For example, Barack Obama made his Independence Day speech at White House in 2013 and describe America like this: a land of liberty and opportunity. A global defender of peace and freedom. A beacon of hope to people everywhere who cherish those ideals.

In addition to parades and floats, there are also firework displays at parks, fairgrounds and squares in the evening. Firework displays are often accompanied by those patriotic songs such as The Star-Spangled Banner-the National Anthem, God Bless America, etc.
