Instead of storing your files on the Internet, WD My Cloud is a local networked repository for all your content so you can access it from media players, portable devices or PC/Mac. The more you want do with the WD My Cloud, the more problems as well.

Play AVI on WD My Cloud App

AVI can't work fine with WD My Cloud issues

I want to stream AVI videos from my WD MyCloud. At the moment it finds the MyCloud, and files, but refuses to play on media player. I know that MKV files can't be streamed with DLNA, but it wont play AVI files either (unsupported file error). The files play on ipads/ iphones, so I think the My Cloud and router work fine. Can I change the file format so it is able to be used. If so, what format would be OK? Not sure why AVI files wont play. Is there a setting I should look at for that?

I'm having this problem. I have a macbook air OS X and I got WD My Cloud. All files like .mp4 and .mkv and .avi play on my DLNA for my Samsung TV and my iPhone 6 Plus fine. The problem is when I open up WD MyCloud on my mac, it wont open or play .avi files. (P.S. - I downloaded all the files to my mac, then uploaded them to WD My Could for storage purposes, they played just fine on my mac before I put them on WD My Cloud). So how do I fix the problem to be able to play .avi files on my Mac OS X via WD My Cloud?"

Is there a way to transcode unsupported files (avi. for example) on my "WD my cloud 4tb'' and stream to ? Official android WD My Cloud app supports only mp4 but there is a Twonky media server installed on the device, why can't it do the job?
